Commissioners have begun a series of discussions involving key individuals and organisations with a strong interest in the work of the Royal Commission of Inquiry.

Included in the discussions are:

• Survivors and survivor networks
• Maori and Pasifika advocates
• Disability groups
• Social sector agencies
• Government agencies and Crown entities
• Researchers and academics
• Legal providers.

Over the coming weeks, engagements will continue with these groups but also focus on survivors and survivor networks from faith-based institutions in particular. 

These engagements are being held in both Wellington and Auckland, and are an opportunity for Commissioners to:

• Listen, and hear about people’s expectations for the Inquiry; and
• Test their thinking as they develop a work programme for the duration of the Royal Commission. 

To date, 17 meetings with key individuals and organisations have taken place.  More are scheduled over the coming weeks.Commissioners received their warrants from the Government on 3 January this year – their first formal working day for the Commission.
