This Practice Note sets out how the Inquiry will approach the redaction of information from documents or any other evidence received in the course of its investigations and from those participating with the Inquiry pursuant to section 15 of the Inquiries Act 2013 (“the Act”).

If a person has evidence that is relevant to the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference they may provide a statement setting out their experience.

The Inquiry has the power under section 15 of the Inquiries Act 2013 (“the Act”) to make orders forbidding or restricting public access to any part or aspect of the Inquiry and / or forbidding publication of evidence, submissions, reports, accounts, names or other particulars presented or given to the Inquiry.

The Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai, a community organisation that advocates for children and young people who have experience in the care system.
