Mr EY - Mr EY is of Moriori, Te Ati awa, Rangitane and Ngāi Tahu descent. His evidence relates to the experiences of his younger brother, Jimmy. Jimmy was disabled and admitted to Tokanui Hospital at the age of 12 (1963), where he died two years later. Mr EY talks of the visible signs of abuse and neglect he saw on his brother, and the years, after Jimmy’s death, he has spent trying to get an answer from various agencies about what happened to his brother and seeking acknowledgment of Jimmy’s life.
